Star India batter Virat Kohli is practicing hard at Lord’s in London in his off season to prepare for the ODI series against Australia. Kohli has been on a break since the completion of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025), having retired from Tests and ODIs. The star batter will now only play ODIs as he’s next set to feature in the three-match ODI series against Australia in October.
Despite being away from the game, Kohli is still regular with his practice sessions to keep himself ready for international commitments. The star batter also posed for photographs with fans outside the training facilities at the Lord’s Stadium.
India are set to take on Australia in three ODIs set to begin from October 19 in Perth. However, in the lead up to the series, there have been speculations around his retirement along with Rohit Sharma. However, the BCCI have quashed such rumours, saying that they’re not in a hurry to take any decision on the future of the batting stalwarts.
Recently, Swastik Chikara, a right-handed batter from Uttar Pradesh, shared Virat Kohli’s future plans in the IPL as he recalled a conversation with the star batter.
"Virat bhaiya said, 'Jab tak cricket khelunga, jab tak main poora fit hoon. Ye Impact Player ki tarah nahi khelunga. Main sher ki tarah khelunga (I will play cricket for as long as I am completely fit. I won't play as an Impact Player. I will play like a lion. 'I will field for the full 20 overs and then bat. The day I have to play as an Impact Player, I will quit cricket'," Swastik told RevSportz.
With the ODI World Cup 2027 two years away, Kohli will have to maintain his form in the lead up to the tournament as several youngsters have been making their mark at the international level and making a strong case for their selections.
